Aledo Real Estate

Aledo can be found in Parker County, just west of Fort Worth. This small, close-knit community has been in existence for over one hundred years. In 1879, the Texas & Pacific Railroad constructed a line through to connect Fort Worth and Weatherford. A coal and water refueling station was the first stop in Parker County for west-bound trains and it became known as Parker Station. However, when mail marked "Parker County" found its way out of the mail car at "Parker Station", the U.S. Post Office directed the smaller community to find a distinct name. So the community was named in 1882 for the home town of a railroad official from Aledo, Illinois.

The covered sidewalks and quaint store fronts of yesteryear are still there today, standing at attention, saluting the trains that rumble through the valley. The trains don't stop here any more and the cabooses are gone, but children delight in an exchanged wave with the railroad engineer.

The allure of wide open spaces, ranch-style homes, and acreage for horses bring many ranchers and cowboys out to the countryside of Aledo. A country club lifestyle is also available here with manicured lawns and golf course lots in the prestigious Lost Creek neighborhood.

The city of Aledo is served by the Aledo Independent School District. This 4A district also serves neighboring communities such as Annetta, Hudson Oaks, and Willow Park.

Today, the sleepy town of Aledo is growing as families flock to areas seeking a quiet community with a small-town feel. Aledo provides easy access to nearby jobs and big-city attractions. Yet for all the change that the small town has seen over the years, Aledo still clings to the close-knit community atmosphere that has defined this town--ever since that first train pulled into the depot some hundred years ago.
