Balch Springs Real Estate

The town of Balch Springs lays about three miles from Mesquite, and eleven miles southeast of Dallas. The town is easily accessed via Interstate 635 between I-20 and US Highway 175. Balch Springs was founded in 1870 by John Balch who literally discovered three springs in the area. One of these springs never ran dry. In 1953, Balch Springs was incorporated, with a mayor-council form of government, in order to avoid annexation by Dallas. The site encompassed sections of Rylie, Kleberg, Five Points, Zipp City, Jonesville, Balch Springs, and Triangle.

Today, Balch Springs is a thriving suburb of Dallas with a diverse population of just under 20,000, according to the 2000 census. Balch Springs boasts a number of manufacturers, a library and even its own newspaper with the median family income coming in at under $40,000. Most residents commute to work.

The children of Balch Springs are educated by either the Mesquite Independent School District [MISD] or the Dallas Independent School District [DISD]. Literally, each district represents one half of the town. Southwest Balch Springs reports to DISD, while Northeast sections are served by MISD. There is one private school, The Balch Springs Christian Academy that serves students Kindergarten through Grade 12.
