Farmers Branch Real Estate

Conveniently located on Dallas' northern border, Farmers Branch offers visitors a quaint and comfortable hometown with big-city convenience. Rich in history, Farmers Branch was settled in 1842. Originally, the area was called Mustang, as part of Peter's Colony, but was later changed to Farmers Branch due to the rich soil and flourishing crops. The settlement originally included all the land between White Rock Creek on the east, the Elm Fork of the Trinity on the West, the Dallas County Line on the north and Cedar Springs on the South. The Gilbert House, located in the Farmers Branch Historical Park is the oldest rock structure in Dallas County that is still on its original foundation. Additionally, the original 1877 depot has been restored and relocated to the Historical Park.

The Farmers Branch Historical Park opened in 1986 and has welcomed over 50,000 visitors each year. In addition to tours and educational programs, the Historical Park schedules many family-oriented events throughout the year including picnics and craft workshops. In 1946, the city of Farmers Branch was incorporated with a population of 800. Today, that number has grown to well over 24,000.

Need to get somewhere fast? Farmers Branch is in the center of the D/FW transportation system. Three vital airports are less than 15 minutes away and include the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport; Dallas Love Field, home of Southwest Airlines; and Addison Airport, one of the largest corporate airfields in the United States. Three major highways border Farmers Branch, making access easy to any of the numerous points of interests, including major-league sporting events, countless theatres and museums, award-winning restaurants, and world class shopping.

No longer a farming community, Farmers Branch is thriving in economic development and is home for 2,600 companies and 70 corporate headquarters, including i2 Technologies, Inc., Occidental Chemical, and Dallas Semiconductor. Farmers Branch is not all work, though. The city touts a variety of leisure, recreational, and cultural activities for all ages at the Don Showman Recreation Center and Swimming Pool, the Senior Center, the Historical Park, numerous athletic fields, and 28 area parks.

Farmers Branch is served by the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. In 2005-2006, CFISD was awarded "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency. Older, established brick homes occupy the Farmers Branch area which translates into mature tree-lined streets and spacious backyards. Neighborhoods in Farmers Branch include the prestigious Brookhaven Country Club.
