Highland Village Real Estate

When you drive into the city of Highland Village, you might just think you've driven out of Texas. In this contained community that is nestled next to neighbors, Flower Mound and Lewisville, Highland Village's lush and scenic atmosphere is reminiscent of Atlanta, Georgia. Rolling hills, neighborhoods connected with hike and bike trails, and fenceless backyards are just some of the attributes of a place that 15,000 people call home.

Located north of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and hugging the south side of the western branch of Lake Lewisville, Highland Village is conveniently situated in-between Dallas and Fort Worth, and is a quick commute to Denton to the north, or downtown Dallas to the south, on Interstate 35.

Highland Village is a fairly young community only having been incorporated as a city in the early 1960s. The opening of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport helped spur massive growth in cities just north of the airport, including Highland Village. The city remains a primarily residential area, but is still considered relatively small compared to Flower Mound and Lewisville.

Highland Village is served by the Lewisville Independent School District, which has three elementary schools and one middle school located in the city. Marcus High School, located in Flower Mound, is the city's main high school.

Besides convenient shopping in Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville, as well as the many malls located in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, residents enjoy an array of cultural events right in their own backyards. Local cultural arts events include symphony, dance, music, and theater. Educational exhibits are prevalent in the area with displays of scientific collections at museums, zoos, the Botanic Garden, and the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. Dallas and Fort Worth science museums both boast planetariums, and the Fort Worth Herpetarium features one of the world's largest collections of reptiles and amphibians. With Lake Lewisville just around the corner, outdoor and family-oriented activities abound here. And every year, Highland Village hosts an annual hot-air balloon festival sponsored by the local Lions Club.

Many of the neighborhoods of Highland Village are connected with hike and bike trails and several subdivisions have their own community pools. Homes in this area list between $124,900 for three bedrooms and two baths, to $995,000 for four bedrooms and three baths.
