It nevertheless still offers small town values with quick access to big city amenities.
Settled in the 1860s, Kennedale began as a transportation "hub" with many wagon trails crossing the site which later was to become the town. Today, nestled in southeast Tarrant County, Kennedale boasts proximity to the modern-day wagon trails of I-20, Loop 820 and U.S. Highway 287. It is one of Tarrant County's fastest-growing cities, with about 6,500 residents in 2005. The city offers excellent public schools (Kennedale ISD), a senior center, and a city library.
Just 10 miles southeast of Fort Worth, the fifth-largest city in Texas, as well as proximity to Arlington, known for its sports and entertainment amenities, Kennedale offers residents all the benefits of big city museums, restaurants, sporting events, colleges and universities, and shopping. In addition, race fans will love the city's hometown racetrack, the Cowtown Speedway Racetrack.
Homes range from under $100,000 to more than $500,000, and include a wide range of older homes as well as customized new construction. According to the 2000 census, the median household income in Kennedale was $49,091 and the median home value was $101,900.
