Located just north of Irving and south of Coppell, the Las Colinas community has experienced quite a lot of growth over the past 15 years. In 1973, Irving landowner Ben Carpenter saw his dream come true with the opening of a privately funded, master-planned community of 7,000 acres, which has grown to include more than a 1,000 corporations, as well as homes, schools, shopping areas, and recreation facilities.

A community, once the "outskirts" of Irving, has taken on its own identity. Heavy-hitting retailers such as Home Depot, Sam's Warehouse, Kohl's, and many others have made their home along I-635. Corporate powerhouses such as Nokia USA, ExxonMobil, and Zales Corporation are the prestigious tenants along Highway 114.

This phenomenal environment, combined with the proposed Dallas Area Rapid Transit System light rail line servicing the Urban Center, the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and a new Convention Center, will continue to make Las Colinas the premier corporate address in the metroplex. At the center of Las Colinas is Lake Carolyn, where many events take place throughout the year including countless triathlons, and other sporting events.

The community also includes the University of Dallas, North Lake Community College, Las Colinas Country Club, Texas Stadium, and the Trinity River Greenbelt Park. New home developers are filling up any possible vacant property. Most recently, property developers are hoping to bring vibrancy to Las Colinas with the construction of condos, luxury apartments, and loft-living.
