White Settlement Real Estate

White Settlement is approximately 7 miles from downtown Fort Worth. The town is nestled in 5 square miles bounded by IH-30, Loop 820 West, and the Joint Naval Air Station (formerly Carswell Air Force Base). The city, incorporated in 1941, is home to 15,400 residents, many of whom are second or third generation residents. White Settlement has a rich history dating back to the 1840’s. This settlement became a trading post that was patronized by both the Indians and the settlers. This sense of community remains.

The roots of the name and the city itself can be traced back to the earliest days of the Texas Republic. In a time when many predominantly white pioneers were moving to the area, several surrounding settlements were still occupied by Native Americans. In 1849, in an effort to help protect the pioneers, the War Department constructed a small fort at the confluence of the Clear and West Forks of the Trinity River. It was given the name Fort Worth.

This historical chain of events led to the development of two settlements, one occupied by white settlers and another encompassing a grouping of seven villages occupied by Native Americans. Thus, the name White Settlement was coined. The City of White Settlement was officially incorporated in 1941 and has enjoyed a steady increase in population and development ever since.

White Settlement offers a hometown, community atmosphere with all the benefits of city living. Just minutes from two popular shopping malls, White Settlement is surrounded by numerous department stores, restaurants and entertainment venues. Fort Worth’s Cultural Arts District offers a science and history museum, two world-renown art museums, and numerous performing arts facilities.

Residents are served by the schools of the White Settlement Indpendent School District. White Settlement ISD is a growing suburban school district that serves more than 5,200 students who reside in White Settlement and a portion of Fort Worth. WSISD includes four elementary campuses, an intermediate school, a middle school, a high school, an alternative campus and a new Fine Arts Academy. Four WSISD schools are Recognized campuses and four are ranked Acceptable.

Housing is varied and affordable. The average sales price for a single family home or condo was $95,143 in January 2007.
